Preparing the Wood for Polish
The final gloss and depth of your wood finish is entirely dependent on the smoothness of the base. Before applying any coating, you must fill all cracks and grain pores. We highly recommend using our Patented KEFIL Wood Filler to seal imperfections without shrinkage. After filling, sand the raw wood progressively using 120, 180, and finally 220 grit sandpaper along the direction of the wood grain.
Understanding Single-Pack vs Two-Pack Systems
Single-Pack (NC Lacquer): These systems are incredibly easy to apply, dry very quickly, and require no mixing of hardeners. They are ideal for general interior furniture, decorative items, and quick-turnaround projects. Use Delite Wood Finish (Single Pack) for an elegant, fast-drying clear coat.
Two-Pack (Melamine): A two-pack system requires mixing a base resin and a hardener prior to application. It takes slightly longer to cure but cross-links to create an exceptionally hard, scratch-resistant, and heat-resistant film. This is mandatory for high-wear surfaces like dining tables, kitchen cabinets, and hotel furniture. Use Delite Melamine Wood Finish for professional-grade durability.
Professional Application Tips
- Always apply the polish in thin, even coats. Applying a thick coat can lead to solvent entrapment, causing bubbling or a milky appearance (blushing).
- For melamine finishes, strictly follow the mixing ratio on the container. Mixed material has a 'pot life' of a few hours, so only mix the quantity you can spray immediately.
- While brushing is possible, spray application (using an HVLP spray gun) provides the best, glass-like finish for both single-pack and two-pack systems.
